Should I have to shave my beard, trim my mustache, and regularly cut my hair just to please my wife?

My wife and I have been happily married for 15 years. I am 20 years older than she is. I'm 55 and she'll be 35 in August. For about 5 years now, I've been letting my beard grow (most of it is gray) and like big mustaches. I also hate getting hair cuts. My wife has been telling me that she wants me to start trimming my beard and mustach to have more of a clean-cut look. I hate shaving my face and dying my beard. My wife has lost some weight and wears size 10-12 pants, always highlights her hair, goes to the gym, takes care of our home needs including very good home cooked meals. Our daughter who is in high-school also tells me that I should do something about all my hair. My feeling about this is that I love big mustaches (always have always will), and love big beards, if this is the way I like to look, without disrespect for my wife and daughter, why should I have to change what I like for them? My wife is happy with my physic (I workout everyday), but not my looks. Can anyone help?

That should be a compromise between you and her. You'll both have to decide what is more important, the hair or the relationship (unless you both just like having a tiff about nothing, in which case you both already have what you want). ;-)

Perhaps they would like to be proud of their dad and husband. She didn't marry a shaggy bum. Why should she want one now? Does she NEVER do anything that you would like her to do just to please you? It is time you tried to please her. This world is not all about YOU ya know.

Sorry about the controlling issue on her part. I hate shaving also. I've had this beard for 35 years. We should periodically trim up a bit just to throw them a curve. I just had the hair and beard trimmed back for Spring and an upcoming court case. I wish you luck! ;-)=

Well, look at it this way. Your wife and daughter are the ones who have to look at you. If they tell you that they think your hair and beard would look better trimmed up some, then maybe it really would. If you don't care whether you look nice for them then do nothing. It's okay either way, please yourself or please your family, up to you....and if they really love you they will accept you either way.

YES

I am sorry to hear your wife is giving you a hard time. My husband has hair down to his waist and a beard to match (ZZ TOP all the way) and that's the way he likes it. I didn't necessarily like it in the beginning. I couldn't imagine him changing and I couldn't imagine demanding he change either. Then he wouldn't be happy. I realized that he may not look the way others want him to look BUT he is the nicest smartest man in the world . Long hair, beard and mustache ,blue jeans and t-shirts. I wouldn't change a thing!

I once had a boyfriend who grew a mustache, sideburns and a beard. I asked him to cut them off. He removed the beard, trimmed the mustache considerably and told me the sideburns were a part of his heritage and he was keeping them.

I liked that about him!

And he was right not to allow me to control everything. After all, it was his face and he had a perfect right to determine how he wanted his face to look, although he did give in somewhat.

I respected him more and still do, even though that was many years ago,

Well maybe you could tone it down a bit. I mean you are wanting to look attractive for your wife not someone else, right? See if you can find a compromise with what feels good to you and what is attractive to her.

Should I have to shave my beard, trim my mustache, and regularly cut my hair just to please my wife?

I think your wife and daughter should respect the way you feel. It seems like your wife is being a little selfish %26amp; not really considering your feelings. Would your wife shave her head and grow out her armpit hair if you said you preferred it that way? Don't think so! She should try to put herself in your place. This is a tough one, hope you guys can work it out!

Do what she likes. otherwise you will soon have less and less sex, cuz she wont find you appealing.

Should I have to shave my beard, trim my mustache, and regularly cut my hair just to please my wife?

I don't think you should have to completely change the way you look if it really makes you happy. However, what's wrong with getting an occasional haircut just to keep it looking nice? Or trimming your beard and mustache so it looks clean and professional? Grey hair tends to be very coarse, so maybe the reason she wants you to trim it is because it's scratchy when you kiss. Everyone wants to feel attractive to their mate, so maybe by compromising a little and not letting all your hair get out of control, everyone will be happier.

Try it , you might like it

do something nice for the people who love you, you can always go back to the old style

HAIR STYLISTS ONLY: Please see below??!!?

If you were to recommend an over the counter hair color which is best? And why? And for gray coverage? Also, what's the difference from the salon color (going ot a salon to get a color) %26amp; doing it yourself at home out of a box? I usually go to a salon, but sometimes get in a pinch %26amp; can't go. Thx!!

HAIR STYLISTS ONLY: Please see below??!!?

Salon color is very different than over the counter. For one, Salon color uses different strengths of peroxide or developer to get the desired effect. 10, 20, 30 and 40 volume developer. 10 volume is usually used to cover Grey or can be used to pre- soften the stubborn greys so you get better coverage. The higher levels of developer will lift the the natural color of your hair before depositing color. 20 volume (usually lifts two shades, 30 volume, 3 shades, and so on)

Generally, over the counter hair color if you pick a blonde shade for very dark hair you will not get the desired color because over the counter only gives you one type of developer in the box.

I would really need to know what your natural color is to say what is best. If you can afford it, go to a salon. If you are in a pinch you can try a temporary color they are not permanent and will wash out with time. But if you are going to a salon, you have to be careful about mixing brands, you can have a whole host of problems mixing store bought color with salon color.

i have big boobs too don't worry guys love that

HAIR STYLISTS ONLY: Please see below??!!?

over the counter hair colors have metals and leads in them. They do more damage to your hair than good. Also if you ever wanted to perm your hair, you couldn't if you have used a box color. At a salon, they will find and match the color(s), you need and want, and tell you how to maintain their longivity.

Does cat hair age?

our cats hair was black with a hint of reddish brown when we found him 2 years ago over the course of one year it was completely black and now it has gray and white hairs, mostly by his tail is this normal if not what could cause it and could it be serious

Does cat hair age?

yes it can turn grey, i had a groomer offer to dye the greys out of my dog once.

Does cat hair age?

Just like black dogs get white hairs on their muzzles as they get older, cats can do the same thing. Sometimes, though, the change in color could be caused by a previous injury so can take place anywhere on the body. A reddish-brown coat could indicate very dry fur or a problem with the cat's nutrition at that time. I have an orange ticked tabby Munchkin that's getting black freckles on his nose and lips as he gets older. He's getting some black whiskers, too. Compared to humans, he's in middle age so this is probably to be expected. The vet says he's fine. Perhaps for your own peace of mind your kitty should have a checkup.

Grayish hair???

I'm 13 and have gray in my hair!! I dyed it a few times and i don't wanna have to dye it again because it ruins my hair....

Grayish hair???

Having different colored roots will show up more than the gray hair. Be an individual and let it have a life of its own.

Grayish hair???

Use the color from the store. The lighter you go the less you will have to color your hair.

Grayish hair???

wow!!!!!!!! 13 is way too young to have that happen!!! You must be under alot of stress!! Ok, I would not suggest dying the hair. My hubby had grey when he was 18, but it was only 7-8 hairs, not a whole headful. Have u spoken to your dr? Try doing the wash-in color . It is temporary and not as bad as a permanent dye job. Hope this helps!

Grayish hair???

It shows that you are getting wiser. Nah just joking. I don't know, some people have grey hair when they are young. It looks kind of cool though.

Grayish hair???

Well , apparently ur aging too fast. I suggest u wear a wig or shave it all off.

Grayish hair???

Keep it, what 13 year old girl you know has gray hair? it's so unique it's you it's cool don't try to hide it be confident. btw gray hair is a sign of wisdom lol flaunt it don't dye it. and if you get teased just tell them, i'm wiser than you are shut up!

Grayish hair???

I am a hairdresser and it is not true that it is because you are stressed out, it's simply like a birth mark. If you do not want to color your hair, they now sell hair mascara that you put on just on the areas where you want to cover up the gray. Don't let people freak you out saying you need to go to the doctor, this is very normal.

My black labrador "Yeller" has gray spots on his fur. I think this makes him feel old , wh

so I wonder how I can make him look and feel younger again .

Obviousely , this would only be possible by covering up those gray spots on his fur for him. I know that hair dye is prolly not good to use All ...but! What about a black, non toxic marker instead ?

Do you think he would appreciate his newly restored youth ? I think he would!! Don't you ? :D

P.S. - Who here likes tiapioca pudding ? I do !!!

My black labrador "Yeller" has gray spots on his fur. I think this makes him feel old , which is not good?

The gray spots aren't making him feel old, his AGE is making him feel old. Changing his hair color will do nothing to help him, and you definitely should not try.

I think he would appreciate it if you researched how to care for a senior labrador, and gave him the proper medical/emotional/physical attention needed...and not worry about his appearence. He doesn't worry about what he looks like.

My black labrador "Yeller" has gray spots on his fur. I think this makes him feel old , which is not good?

his grey spots don.t make him feel old, his oldness make him feel old! tapioca is creepy

My black labrador "Yeller" has gray spots on his fur. I think this makes him feel old , which is not good?

Dogs don't care how they look! Thanks for the two points.

My black labrador "Yeller" has gray spots on his fur. I think this makes him feel old , which is not good?

dogs don't know their old! well they do, but...THEY DON'T CRY ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEIRS NOTHING THEY CAN DO! LOL!

My black labrador "Yeller" has gray spots on his fur. I think this makes him feel old , which is not good?

I think you should give him a complete makeover. Maybe, getting him a younger chick would help him feel restored.

I've never tried TIAPIOCA pudding. If it is similar to tapioca pudding then, no I don't like it.

My black labrador "Yeller" has gray spots on his fur. I think this makes him feel old , which is not good?

Gosh, I seriously do not think Yeller knows and even cares about his gray spots. What's tat about hair dyes and OMG! Black marker???!!! For goodness sake, pls do not even try any of those on him!!! If you're a good owner, been taking good care and loving him well, he'd have had a good and wonderful life with lots of good memories and experiences. He'd have been proud of his gray spots!!! Pls lay off him! Let him mature and grow old with DIGNITY!!

My black labrador "Yeller" has gray spots on his fur. I think this makes him feel old , which is not good?

the dog doesnt care what he looks like. he runs around naked lol

My black labrador "Yeller" has gray spots on his fur. I think this makes him feel old , which is not good?

Hi, the one who feels bad about the colour of the fur is you.. not him! If your dog seems to be less active and more tired you might switch to a Senior Food and speak with a vet to see what you should do to help him feel more healthy.. even if like human this is normal to become old, you have to accept your dog is becoming old.

How do i prevent graying hair?

how do u treat these

How do i prevent graying hair?

you can't prevent it.. but you can color it. Guys look better if they just let it go grey though. A man with re-growth is weird looking.

How do i prevent graying hair?

Dye your hair or try not to stress as much.

How do i prevent graying hair?

I think guys with grey hair are hot!

How do i prevent graying hair?

shave

How do i prevent graying hair?

every day stand on your tippe toes and slowly life your arms up while taking a dep breath gradually, until your arms are on top of your head

then, slowly exhale while bring your arms back down to your sides -

this will increase blood circulation and slowly expand the amount of air your lungs can take in a little at a time, every time you do it

i think graying hair may be tied to blood flow!! it's possible!!

How do i prevent graying hair?

by highlighting your hair

How do i prevent graying hair?

You can't really prevent it, sorry!

You can dye them, though I personally like when people use natural dyes (henna or something) because it's less toxic, or when people get dye jobs at the salon, because the stylists protect your scalp from carcinogenic chemicals in dyes, and they know when to remove the dyes so that your hair doesn't thin/fall out as fast.

How do i prevent graying hair?

My dad colors his hair but he does it himself at home and sometimes he accidentally colors his skin... I think people should just embrace the gray. 40 is the new 30 so age isn't as big of a deal now. Look at George Clooney

How do i prevent graying hair?

To check graying of hair, mix lemon juice in olive oil, beat till frothy and apply on scalp and wash off after an hour. Premature graying of hair can be postponed by using a strong decotion of black tea and a tablespoon of salt, strain and apply to the roots for 45 minutes and wash with water. Don't shampoo. What might happen to my hair if i do this?

I am planning on dying my hair jet black in about a week. My hair is currently light brown/dark blondish(srry couldnt get pic). I am just worried and wanted to no if there is any way that my hair could actually turn out bein like a brown or even gray due to the drastic jump from light to dark. Also if there is any special hair color that could prevent this, plz let me no.

Thanks, Jennyé–³?br>What might happen to my hair if i do this?

It'll be fine, as long as you touch up your roota now and again, cos u wouldnt wanna have dark blonsish roots and jet black hair LOL :) it might take you a while to get used to the darkness, it did me, and my hair was already dark brown

What might happen to my hair if i do this?

When your making a huge color change like that sometimes the hairdresser will need to die your hair a dark dark brown , then go on to black. I don't think it will do anything bad to your hair , but after a while your brown roots will start to show.

What might happen to my hair if i do this?

Its kind of difficult without seeing your hair. If its too dark you should probably bleach it.

What might happen to my hair if i do this?

i'm sure your hair looks fine the way it is. You should be happy the way u r

What might happen to my hair if i do this?

anything from L'Oreal is good. i've not been dissapointed with their products.

jet black is jet black no matter what you do.. that color will be just that no matter what your color is.

( when i way dying my hair jet black i liked clairol's nice and easy jet black.. that stuff really was blue black!)

What might happen to my hair if i do this?

buy the haircolor from a beauty supply store. If you have questions about different brands, ask the clerks at the store. they will have a ll the answers.

What might happen to my hair if i do this?

That's easy; You'll just look like a person with died black hair. I noticed it on the young girls who go for the drastic black (almost like the ones who wear drastic red) it just tends to stick out to us who use to color their hair. So you recognize people who do. It will look like the young kids who die their hair to obtain the "Gothic look." You just know its dyed."

When people color their hair to cover gray, it the same thing it looks like someone took a crayon to their head and colored it in. To kids, it will look like hair. To one who is trained it will look dyed and black.
