How can i fix my hair that came out jet black when i was trying to dye it dark brown?

I was dying my hair, like i usually do, to cover my gray hair and this time it came out jet black- how do i fix it and still cover my gray-

I am a single mother with one son and raising my sisters child, so i don't have money to go to a salon- i need to be able to fix it at home-- thanks for any advice!!

just go over the black with a lighter brown color.

Also, it wont really damage your hair dyeing it again, because dyes like dark browns usually use a very waek developer.

good luck

I dye my own hair too and I use revlon. (It's ok to DIY)

Just don't leave the dye on too long (read directions on pack) cos if you do, the colour is invariably darker!

wash it with dishsoap to strip some of the color then condition it like crazy

Depending on what you used you will find with continual washing of your hair alot of the color will lift off.

There are ways to get rid of the dark hair but you would have to go to a salon to do it.

Plus the hair gets damaged in the process, unfortunately.

My girlfriend did the same thing, but then took a few strands of her hair by her face and bleached them out... Made a differance in the way she looked.

the more you wash, blow dry, or flat iron/curl your hair it will lighten. If you try to go over the black with a brown it will wont work so well. Its hard to go from black to a lighter color esp when its been colored black. there is also a product that you spray in your hair and it lightens with the sun. I think its called sun-In lightner , or something like that
